dc.description.abstract | During the month of January 2022, several articles published in Divaina, Sunday Lankadeepa, Mawbima, Aruna, Sunday Mawbima, Lankadeepa, Sunday Divaina contained the ethical violation of not using a person first language to describe persons with disabilities, which leads to discrimination. Derogatory terms such as “golu” (ගොළු), “andha” (අන්ධ), “abadhitha” (ආබාධිත), kathana abadhitha” (කථන ආබාධිත), “drushya abadhitha” (දෘශ්ය ආබාධිත) and “pissa” (පිස්සා) were used. In the meantime, an article published in Mawbima (28-01-2022) complied with the ethical guidelines and used a person first language as “abadha sahitha” (ආබාධ සහිත). | en_US |
