dc.description.abstractIn the month of December 2018, articles published in Sunday Times, Daily News and Divaina contained misleading and sensational headlines and inaccurate information which is a violation of media ethical guidelines. Further, several Sinhala and English newspapers (i.e. Lankadeepa, Dinamina, Divaina, Mawbima, The Island, Ceylon Today, Daily Mirror and Daily News) referred to Mahinda Rajapaksa as 'Prime Minister' on 26 November 2018 despite the official announcement of the dissolution of the Cabinet being issued by the Speaker on 16 November 2018. This post also includes an informational analysis of the number of articles and pictures that mentioned Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister in the newspapers published on November 17, 18 and 19.en_US
