Abstract

In the month of June 2018, articles published in Divaina, Lakbima, Lankadeepa and Sunday Divaina contained misleading headlines, inaccurate information and reporting in a manner that evoke fear and shock which is a violation of media ethical guidelines. This entry also includes an infographic which emphasizes the importance of adhering to following ethical guidelines when publishing photos: should not publish photographs that are not relevant to reporting event, incident or people mentioned in it; even if relevant, photographs should not be published in a way that harms the parties mentioned.
