Abstract
During the months of December 2021 and January 2022, Mawbima, Divaina (12-01-2022), Lankadeepa (04/20-01-2022), Lankadeepa Online, Aruna, Sunday Aruna, Sunday Divaina and Silumina published several articles on sexual crimes, which contained the following ethical violations; using the derogatory terms "duushanaya" and "keleseema", trivialisation of sexual crimes in the headlines, and using sensational headlines. On the contrary, Lankadeepa (27-12-2022 / 04-01-2022), Divaina (06/25-01-2022), and Hiru (17-01-2022) ethically reported on sexual crimes using appropriate terminology.
