In the month of October 2021 Aruna, Sunday Aruna, Lankadeepa, Sunday Lankadeepa, Divaina, Sunday Divaina, Mawbima, Dinamina and Silumina published several articles on suicide which contained the ethical violations of not mentioning helplines, mentioning the method of suicide, publishing suicide notes, publishing photos of the victim, simplifying reasons for suicide publishing suicide news on front page and sensationalising suicide
