Abstract

During the month of October 2021 Aruna, Lankadeepa, Mawbima, Dinamina, Silumina, Divaina, Hiru, Derana and Swarnavahini published several news on suicide which contained the ethical violations of reporting the method of suicide, not mentioning helplines, publishing photos of the victim, publishing suicide notes, simplifying the reasons for suicide and publishing suicide news on front page.
