Abstract
On 12 August 2024, Aruna and Dinamina used the term "දූෂණය" (dushanaya) in both headlines and content when reporting the Thanamalwila sexual assault incident. In contrast, Ada and Divaina used the more appropriate term "ලිංගික අපයෝජනය" (lingika apayojanaya). However, Divaina also used "දූෂණය" (dushanaya) within the news content.
