Issuance of Treasury Bills to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka

Abstract

On 10 March 2020, S.R. Attygalle, Secretary to the Treasury, requested W.D. Lakshman, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, to issue Treasury Bills amounting to Rs 50 billion to the Central Bank before 13 March 2020 citing the prevailing economic situation. On 11 March 2020, the Governor replied that the Bank was seeking urgent approval from the Monetary Board to accommodate the Secretary’s request.
