Sri Lanka's Economic Crisis Before the Supreme Court
Browse by
"Sri Lanka's Economic Crisis Before the Supreme Court" is an online repository hosted by Verité Research which provides public access to the important documents submitted by parties during the hearings of the two petitions (bearing numbers SCFR 195/2022 and 212/2022) instituted in the Supreme Court. The petitioners in the said applications claimed that the actions, inactions and failures of the several high-ranking government officials had resulted in the economic crisis and subjected the entire citizenry to acute hardships. In November 2023, the Supreme Court held that the said officials (i.e., the respondents in these applications) had contributed directly to the economic crisis and had violated the fundamental rights of the citizens of Sri Lanka.
