    Abstract
On June 11, 2024, the Siyatha, Hiru TV, Sirasa, Swarnawahini, ITN, Rupavahini and TV Derana television channels reported PAFFREL’s position of the People's Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) organisation that the presidential election should be held as scheduled in accordance with the Constitution, as there is no provision to extend the President’s term to six years. Siyatha, Hiru TV, Sirasa, and Swarnawahini carried the story, while ITN, Rupavahini and TV Derana did not. Among those that reported it, only Sirasa and Swarnawahini included the story in their prime-time Sinhala news bulletins.
