    Abstract
On May 07, 1930, the Dinamina newspaper reported an incident in which one woman assaulted and injured another. The article used the term “Demala sthriya” (දෙමළ ස්ත්‍රිය) to describe a woman, even though their ethnicity was irrelevant to the incident. Using such terms promotes ethnic stereotyping. Media is advised to avoid such language, especially in negative contexts, as it violates ethical reporting guidelines.
