Abstract
On June 18, 2024, the Ethics Eye team published two infographics presenting charts that compared the airtime allocated to reporting the first public rally of ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ during the prime-time Sinhala news bulletins, as well as the airtime given to individual speakers at the rally on the TV Derana channel. The infographics shows that TV Derana allocated more airtime to the event than Swarnawahini, Hiru TV, Sirasa, Siyatha, and Rupavahini, while ITN did not cover it at all. The data further indicated that TV Derana gave significantly more airtime to Dilith Jayaweera’s speech than to the other speakers at the rally.
