On 13th August 2023, Mawbima newspaper reported on a murder case involving a female suspect, describing her as "Sundari" (සුන්දරී). Such references to physical appearance can contribute to the objectification and stereotyping of women. The report also used sensationalised language and illustrations, heightening the emotional impact of the story. In contrast, Dinamina newspaper covered the same incident on 15th August 2023, choosing not to highlight anyone’s physical appearance, thus maintaining a more ethical and neutral tone in its reporting.en_US
