On January 3 and 7, 2024, the Sathi Aga Aruna, Aruna, Dinamina, Silumina, and Mawbima newspapers reported on a sexual crime and the murder of a senior citizen. However, these publications inappropriately focused on the victim's appearance, using terms such as "ලස්සනයි" (Lassanai) and "හැඩකාර" (Hadakara), as described by the perpetrator. Additionally, they sensationalised the incident by detailing the victim’s attire at the time of the crime and exploiting explicit descriptions provided by the murderer. This post presents a word cloud highlighting the problematic language used in these reports.en_US
