Abstract

From 10 to 30 June 2023, Sinhala newspapers Dinamina, Divaina and Aruna published articles which referred to drug addicts as "කුඩ්ඩන් " (kuddan). On 19 July 2023, Sinhala newspapers Dinamina and Aruna published articles which mentioned how a group of people who had pretended to be homosexual persons seeking for partners, had exploited certain persons, but had been arrested. Dinamina referred to homosexual persons as "සමරිසි" (samarisi) whereas Aruna addressed them as "සමනලුන් " (samanalun).
