Abstract

On 7 July 2023, Sinhala newspaper Aruna published three news reports i.e. arrest of 58 people including 39 women in Jaffna after conflict between some groups, arrest of three young women at a brothel run in a building belonging to a retired Superintendent of Police and government initiative to increase the number of milk producing factories in the country that violated the following media ethics guidelines: using sensationalised headings, highlighting women and using inappropriate and derogatory terms.
