Abstract

On July 10, 2023, Aruna and Dinamina Sinhala newspapers had reported how a 14-year-old girl who had told her home that she was going to tuition classes was found by the police 8 months after she went missing. The headline used by Dinamina is slightly different from Aruna but both newspapers had framed the report in a way that placed the blame on the girl, who was under the age of consent.
