During the month of July 2023, several newspapers and television channels covered the narrative supporting and opposing the cutting of the Crudia zeylanica tree. Newspapers such as Dinamina, Lankadeepa, Aruna and television channels such as Rupavahini, ITN and Siyatha presented only the government's viewpoint which supported the cutting of the tree. Supportive views from both the government and those who opposed the cutting of the tree were presented by newspapers such as Mawbima, Divaina, Ada and the television channels Hiru, Sirasa, Swarnawahini and Derana.en_US
