dc.description.abstract | During the months of March and April 2023, several Sinhala newspapers, i.e. Dinamina, Divaina, Lankadeepa, and Mawbima published articles containing the term "චීනා" (Cheena), which is considered derogatory towards Chinese people. The Ada newspaper also reported the same incidents ethically, avoiding derogatory terms. On the 4th of April 2023, Aruna published an article containing the derogatory term "සුද්දී" (Suddi) while Mawbima reported it ethically. During the month of April 2023, Aruna and TV Derana reported on people with substance abuse using the derogatory term "මත්ලෝලීන්" (Mathlolin). | en_US |
