Parliamentary report card: Sajith Premadasa - September 2015 to February 2020 and August 2020 to February 2023

Abstract

On 16 May 2023, the Working Committee of the SJB unanimously decided to name the current Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa as the party's next presidential candidate. Manthri.lk looked at Premadasa's performance in parliament.

This report card shows the contribution of MP Sajith Premadasa (SJB) in 8th and 9th parliaments. It is based on analysis of Hansard data from September 2015 to February 2020 and August 2020 to February 2023. This includes overall rank (75/225 ;4/225), district rank (4/19;2/19) attendance in parliament sittings (160/414; 209/243), total number of productive interventions he made in parliament (128,443) and topics which were discussed most by him in the parliament i.e., Governance, Administration and Parliamentary Affairs; Health; Urban Planning, Infrastructure & Transportation and Economy and Finance.
