Abstract

During the month of October 2022, articles published in Lankadeepa, Mawbima, and Irida Mawbima published several derogatory terms such as "කූඩ්ඩා", and "චීන්නු", which are disrespectful terms to describe people that leads to discriminating individuals in society and stereotyping. In contrast to චීන්නු" Dinamina has used the term 'චීන ජාතිකයා' which is not a derogatory term, and does not highlight a particular race in a disrespectful manner in a negative context.
