    Abstract
The articles published in Mawbima and Lakadeepa on 03 July 2018 have used the derogatory term "braseelaya" (බ්‍රසීලයා) to refer to a foreigner of Brazilian nationality which is a violation of media ethical guidelines. Meanwhile, Divaina used the term “braseela jathikaya” (බ්‍රසීල ජාතිකයා), thus complying with media ethical guidelines.
