In the month of May 2022 covered the news of the appointment of the 26th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe. Rupavahini only covered opinions of people who were in favour of the appointment, thus amounting to one-sided reporting. Swarnavahini, Hiru and Sirasa only featured opinions in opposition to the appointment, amounting to one-sided reporting. Derana, ITN and Siyatha featured both for and against opinions on the appoitment. Notably, only Derana featured a congratulatory message to the new PM.
