Abstract
On 1 May 2019, Daily Mirror in its ‘Political Gossip’ column published a false report about Mahinda Rajapaksa and Sumanthiran. An apology was later published in the Daily Mirror (May 2, 2019), which was also false, but it did not issue a second explanation or a second apology.
