Abstract

In the month of February 2022, Aruna, Divaina, Lankadeepa and Mawbima reported on a dancer committing suicide, where her physical appearance was highlighted as "suruupi" (beautiful) which was irrelevant to the context. The articles further did not comply with the media ethics guidelines on suicide; mentioned the method of suicide, published photos of the deceased and did not publish helplines.
