Dinamina featured the story on its front page, identifying the suspects as Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) supporters in both the headline and content. Aruna also referred to the suspects as SJB supporters. Mawbima and Divaina did not mention any political affiliations, while Ada and Lankadeepa did not report on the incident.
