dc.description.abstractOn 12 August 2024, Aruna and Dinamina newspapers, and on 12 and 13 August 2024, Lankadeepa newspaper, reported the arrest of a drug dealer, using the derogatory term "ජාවාරමා" (Jawarama) in headlines and "ජාවාරම්කරුවා" in the content. The media has a responsibility to report news objectively and to avoid language that could create prejudice.
