This entry includes a write-up and an infographic (Both in Sinhala).
For the first time in the history of Katunayake Airport, an individual who allegedly tried to flee to France using the airport’s business facilities was arrested by Border Investigation Unit officers of the Department of Immigration and Emigration on September 2, 2024, as reported in several Sinhala-language newspapers on September 4, 2024. Aruna News reported this incident and mentioned the identity of the arrested person in both the headline and the news report, while Mebima, Dinamina, and Divaina news also mentioned the individual's identity in the report. Thus, they violated media ethical guidelines.
