On May 2, 2023, several Sinhala language newspapers reported on the International Worker's Day (මැයි දින) celebrations organised by various political parties on May 1, 2023 in their front page headlines. Mawbima and Lankadeepa newspapers reported that the celebrations were held in a victorious manner with the participation of many labourers, whereas Aruna reported that celebrations were held with lukewarm participation of labourers. Media guidelines advise to report in a neutral manner, presenting fair and accurate information.en_US
