dc.description.abstract	On May 12, 2023, Divaina published an insensitive editorial on the death of the 16-year-old girl in Kalutara and the suspect arrested for the crime. In the content, Divaina editorial presents an opinion which condones police using torture to get a confession out of the suspect, justifying police brutality. Media ethical guidelines recommend that in dealing with social issues of a particularly shocking or emotionally painful nature the media should take special care to present opinions with due sensitivity and discretion.	en_US
