No Confidence Motion Against Speaker - Voting Breakdown

Abstract

On March 21, 2024, the No Confidence Motion brought against the Speaker of Parliament, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, was defeated, by a margin of 42 votes. The following compilation of infographics reflects the list of MPs that voted in favour, against and MPs who were absent during the vote. 75 votes were cast in favour of the motion, while 117 votes were cast against it and 31 MPs were absent.
