Abstract

On February 7, 2024, the 5th session of the 9th parliament was ceremonially declared open by President Ranil Wickremesinghe. He then presented the Statement of Government Policy, which was known as the “Throne Speech” in the past. This infographic further highlights upon the history behind the throne speech, including information relating to the ceremonial opening of parliament and the statement of government policy.
