Expelling of SJB MPs - Parliamentary Report card: Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara

Abstract

This report card was created as a response to the removal of SJB MPs Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara from the party for accepting ministerial portfolios as the Minister of Tourism and Lands and Minister of Labour and Foreign employment respectively. This infographic shows the contribution of both MPs in 8th and 9th parliaments. It is based on analysis of Hansard data from September 2015 to February 2020 and August 2020 to May 2023. This includes overall ranks, district ranks, attendance in parliament sittings, total number of productive interventions they made in 8th and 9th parliaments. The topics they have contributed most are Technology, Communications and Energy, Economy and Finance, National Heritage, Media and Sports, Justice, Defense and Public Order, Trade and Industry, Labour and Employment, Governance, Administration and Parliamentary Affairs.
