A recap of parliamentary attendance - August 2020 to February 2023
Abstract
This infographic shows parliamentary attendance between August 2020 and February 2023, marking 2.5 years since the inaugural meeting of the 9th Parliament. Throughout this period, 243 parliamentary sittings were held, out of which 58% of sittings had less than 80% attendance. Further, this infographic highlights following 9 MPs with high parliamentary attendance: Upul Rajapaksha (SLPP), Madhura Withanage (SLPP), Ajith Rajapakse (SLPP), Shantha Bandara (SLPP), Gayashan Nawananda (SLPP), D. B. Herath (SLPP), Jagath Kumara (SLPP), Lakshman Kiriella (SJB) and Weerasumana Weerasinghe (SLPP). Along with this, the list of 9 MPs with low parliamentary attendance is shown below: Rajavarothiam Sampanthan (ITAK), Palani Thigambaram (SJB), Tiran Alles (SLPP), Wimal Weerawansa (SLPP), Harin Fernando (SJB), Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe (SLPP), Vino Noharathalingam (ITAK), Dilum Amunugama (SLPP) and C. V. Wigneswaran (TMTK).
