dc.description.abstractDuring the month of October 2022, several tv primetime news telecasts covered the political crisis in Sri Lanka, where different channels adopted different framings and varied in their coverage. On October 16, Derana, Hiru, ITN, Sirasa, Rupavahini, Swarnavahini, and Siyatha reported the protest against the SLPP rally in Nawalapitiya in the headlines. While all the channels focused on the protest, Rupavahini headline's focus was on Mahinda Rajapaksa's comments at the rally. On October 10, Derana, Hiru, ITN, Sirasa, Swarnavahini, and Siyatha reported Veddha chief Uruwarige Wannila Aththo's statement that he received death threats due to the comments he made about Wasantha Mudalige. Rupavahini did not report this news.en_US
