Abstract
This report provides an analysis of the 2014 Uva Provincial Council election. It includes an explanation of the importance of this Provincial Council election and also provides an analysis of the results of elections in Uva over time. It finds that these election results, as well as the results of other elections, indicate that voter behaviour with regard to the UPFA and UNP has moved through four stages in the post-war period: (1) gratitude; (2) sleep; (3) protest; and (4) change. Finally, the report also provides an analysis of the voting patterns in these elections of minority groups like Plantation sector Tamils and Muslims.
