VR conducted a survey among domestic workers and employers of domestic workers in Sri Lanka during the period of March to June 2014 and analysed the findings in terms of domestic workers' working standards, wages and bargaining power. The report provides recommendations for strategies that can be adopted to promote decent work for domestic workers in Sri Lanka. The findings are discussed in relation to decent work standards stipulated in the ILO convention and discusses factors that prevent and promote decent work. Two other reports were also published on this topic. Report No.1, Sri Lanka Domestic Workers: An Analysis of the Legal and Policy Framework, analyses the legal and policy frameworks applicable to domestic workers in Sri Lanka. Report No. 3, Sri Lanka Domestic Workers and Civil Society: In Sight but Out of Mind, evaluates the possible gaps in research and general scarcity of civil society interventions.
