    Abstract
In the month of June 2022, articles published in Sunday Aruna, Sunday Mawbima, Mawbima, Dinamina and Lankadeepa contained several derogatory terms such as ‘kudda’, ‘mas wedda’, and ‘math loliya’, which are disrespectful terms to describe people that leads to discriminating individuals in society and stereotyping. In the month of June 2022, Ethics Eye published an infographic chart to highlight the usage of the derogatory term ‘kudda’ amongst Sinhala newspapers during the year 2020 and 2021.
