dc.description.abstractDuring the month of December 2021, Lankadeepa (06-12-2021), Aruna (06-12-2021), Divaina (06/07-12-2021), and Daily Mirror (06-12-2021) published several articles which violated the media ethics guidelines on protecting the identity of minors in several ways: publishing photos of minors in a way that interrupts their school years and publishing personal details of minors involved in incidents. Meanwhile, Dinamina (06/07-12-2021), Ada (06/07-12-2021), Lankadeepa (07-12-2021), Aruna (07-12-2021), The Island (06/07-12-2021), Daily News (06/07-12-2021), Ceylon Today (06/07-12-2021) and The Morning (06/07-12-2021) adhered to media ethics guidelines on children by not revealing their identity. Daily Mirror (07-12-2021) published blurred pictures of the minors, protecting their identity. When reporting on a road accident, Divaina (03-12-2021) revealed the identity of the suspect who was a minor.en_US
