Abstract

The article titled “What Japan can teach us about cleanliness” by Steve John Powell and Angeles Marin Cabello was published on BBC website on 7 October 2019. Then the Sinhala translation of this article (“ජපානය මෙතරම් පිරිසිදු රටක් බවට පත් වූයේ බුදුදහමේ බලපෑම නිසාද?”) was published on the BBC website on 3 December 2019. This was reproduced in Divaina online edition on 6 December 2019, as an edited version by Keerthi Warnakulasuriya. However, Divaina did not mention that this was an excerpt from the BBC and did not refer to the original authors, which is a serious violation of media ethics.
