    Abstract
During the month of July 2019, Divaina, Mawbima, and Lankadeepa published several articles which contained the following ethical violations: using the derogatory terms "doohanaya” (දූෂණය)" kelesu” (කෙළෙසූ) “kelesanna” (කෙළෙසන්න) to describe sexual crimes, using inappropriate headlines and revealing identity and relationship. Using derogatory terms has a negative impact on the victims of sexual crimes as they denote the idea that such victims have been polluted in a way that they cannot reintegrate to the society. Meanwhile, Ada (18 July 2019) adhered to media ethical guidelines by using the term “lingika apayojanaya” (ලිංගික අපයෝජනය).
