Sri Lanka: Resolution 30/1 Implementation Monitor: Statistical and Analytical Review No. 6
Abstract
Sri Lanka: Resolution 30/1 Implementation Monitor - Statistical and Analytical Review No. 6’, provides an updated analysis from February 2020 to February 2021, of the Sri Lankan government’s progress in implementing the 36 actionable commitments on transitional justice, reconciliation and accountability. It classifies progress on the fulfilment of each commitment as: ‘completed’, ‘partial progress’, ‘poor progress’, or ‘no progress’.
The brief identifies that there were no substantial changes in the implementation status of the commitments since February 2020. However, in light of the political context, the progress of some commitments has been highlighted to be at a risk of reversal.
Six years since UNHRC Resolution 30/1 was co-sponsored, the Sri Lankan government has only completely fulfilled 7 out of 36 commitments, while 18 commitments are at ‘poor progress’ and 4 commitments are at ‘no progress’.
