    Abstract
The Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka has stated that the covid19 patients should be addressed as patients but not as the hosts who carry and spread the disease. But in the month of October 2020 certain newspapers such as Divaina, Aruna, Lankadepa and Mawbima violated these guidelines reporting these individuals who have contracted covid using derogatory terms such as 'covid katha', 'covid piya' and etc.
