A Dinamina editorial & Mawbima article—published on June 08, 2020—criticised EC member Hoole for allegedly insulting the Sinhala language by identifying it as a language in which garbage is written. Hoole reportedly made these remarks during an interview w/ Dan TV on June 05. A translated excerpt of Hoole's statement: "....They are trying to cheat by threatening me. I don’t know Sinhala. I can’t read the garbage written by them in Sinhala." It is apparent Hoole is referring to some content published in Sinhala, not the language as a whole.en_US
