Provincial Council elections were conducted in Sri Lanka’s Western and Southern provinces on 29 March 2014. The main parties covered in this analysis include the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA); United National Party (UNP); Democratic Party (DP); and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP). In addition, parties with ethnic voter bases such as the Democratic People's Front (DPF); Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC); All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC); and Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) are included. The report also uses socio-economic data to assess the impact of social cleavages on voting.en_US
