Abstract

The citizens' budget was essentially a simpler, shorter, and less technical version of the government's budget that was specifically designed after crucial consultation with the public and civil society to present key information about the budget to the public in a more accessible format and aims to foster a greater understanding of how public money is managed. It has become a vital tool for promoting transparency, accountability and public engagement in the government’s budgeting process.
