| dc.description.abstract | During the month of March 2023, several articles published in Divaina, Lankadeepa, Aruna, Irida Mawbima, Irida Aruna, Irida Lankadeepa, and in TV channels such as TV Derana contained the ethical violations such as using derogatory terms and irrelevantly highlighting the physical appearance of women using terms such as "රූමත්", "රූමති", "සුරූපි". When reporting on the suspects involved in heroin smuggling, while TV Derana highlighted the appearance of the suspect as, "සූරූපී තරුණියක්", Aruna did not highlight the appearance - "සැකකාරිය". In certain instances, news reportage in Aruna included the incorrect terms such as "දූෂණය". | en_US |
