dc.description.abstractOn May 4, 2023, Mawbima reported the new viral flu was a Covid variant, quoting the Sri Lanka Medical Association's President. However, the English language newspaper The Morning which published the same news, reported that the flu "could be" a variant of Covid-19. Therefore, Mawbima newspaper has violated media ethical guidelines related to accuracy which state that media must take all reasonable care not to publish inaccurate or misleading news.en_US
