Abstract

On April 23, April 30, and May 14 2023 the Silumina newspaper published several cartoons under the Simple Man segment where there was problematic commentary regarding the leaders of the aragalaya (අරගලය) protest movement. The first cartoon comments on an individual related to the aragalaya who died by suicide in an insensitive manner. The second and third cartoons also target the leaders of the protest.
