On 28 May 2023, Sinhala TV channels reported on the arrest of Nathasha Edirisooriya. The accusation levelled against Edirisooriya was that she insulted Buddhism during a comedy show at which she was performing. A majority of the channels framed their headlines in a manner which showed that the accusations indicate that the alleged offence was committed. These channels were Rupavahini, ITN, Hiru, Swarnawahini, TV Derana and Siyatha. However, Sirasa's headline showed that she had been taken into custody on the suspicion that she was a wrongdoer pertaining to the alleged charge. On 29 May 2023, Sinhala and English newspapers reported on the arrest of Nathasha Edirisooriya. Ada, Divaina, Dinamina, Aruna, Lankadeepa, Mawbima published headlines which implied that the accusations indicated that the alleged offence was committed. The English language newspaper Daily News also used a similar framing. However, Daily Mirror and The Island did not use such a frame. On 30 May 2023, the Aruna editorial spoken about Nathasha Edirisooriya in a discriminatory manner. It even implied, without any basis, that one of the reasons for Edirisooriya's behaviour could be the Histrionic Personality Disorder that she apparently has.en_US
